How to Verify a Claim

Qelvea Refined Finish Index™

This page explains how to verify whether a practitioner or studio is currently recognised under the Qelvea Refined Finish Index (RFI) and what that recognition does — and does not — mean.

Verification helps prevent misrepresentation and supports clear public understanding.

Step 1: Check the Public Register

The most reliable way to verify a claim is to consult the Public Register.

Look for:

  • the practitioner or studio name
  • accreditation level
  • accredited service scope
  • current status (Active / Suspended / Expired)
  • validity period

Only listings marked Active indicate current recognition.

Step 2: Confirm Scope and Validity

Accreditation applies only to:

  • the services listed
  • the period shown

A practitioner may be accredited for some services and not others.

Claims should not extend beyond the scope or validity displayed on the register.

Step 3: Check the Wording Used

Licensed references to the RFI must use approved wording.

Correct examples include:

  • “Accredited under the Qelvea Refined Finish Index™”
  • “Aligned with the Qelvea Refined Finish Index™ (private professional standard)”

Be cautious of claims that suggest:

  • regulation or government approval
  • endorsement or recommendation
  • guarantees of results

These are not permitted.

Step 4: Look for Expired or Suspended Status

If a listing shows:

  • Expired — accreditation has lapsed and licensed use is not permitted
  • Suspended — licensed use is temporarily paused

In both cases, references to current accreditation should not be used.

Step 5: When a Claim Cannot Be Verified

If:

  • no listing appears
  • details do not match
  • wording appears misleading

You may raise a concern through the Contact page.

All reports are reviewed objectively and proportionately.

Important Clarifications

Verification confirms:

  • current recognition under a private professional standard

Verification does not:

  • guarantee service outcomes
  • assess suitability for individual clients
  • constitute endorsement or recommendation

Professional judgement and client choice remain essential.

Why Verification Matters

Verification:

  • protects clients from confusion
  • protects professionals who comply
  • maintains clarity around what accreditation represents

The Public Register is the authoritative source.
