Licence
Qelvea Refined Finish Index™
This page explains how a licence to reference the Qelvea Refined Finish Index (RFI) is granted, what it permits, and the conditions that apply.
A licence exists to ensure accurate, consistent, and non-misleading reference to a private professional standard.
What the Licence Is
A licence is permission to reference accreditation under the RFI in accordance with defined terms.
Where granted, a licence:
- permits limited reference to the RFI
- applies only to the named individual or studio
- applies only to the accredited scope and level
- is time-limited and subject to renewal
A licence does not transfer ownership of intellectual property.
When a Licence Is Granted
A licence is granted only where:
- accreditation under the RFI has been formally awarded
- accreditation is current and active
- the scope of services is clearly defined
Licences are not automatic and may be refused or withdrawn.
What a Licence Permits
While a licence is active, the licensee may:
- reference accreditation using approved wording only
- display approved marks or badges where provided
- state their accreditation level and scope accurately
- direct others to verification guidance where appropriate
All references must remain factual and current.
What a Licence Does Not Permit
A licence does not permit:
- implication of regulation, approval, or endorsement
- use of prohibited terms such as “certified” or “official”
- extension beyond the accredited scope or period
- alteration of approved wording or marks
- sublicensing or third-party use
Any such use is unauthorised.
Duration & Renewal
Licences are:
- granted for a defined period
- reviewed as part of the renewal process
- invalid once accreditation expires, is suspended, or withdrawn
There is no automatic continuation of licensed use.
Suspension & Withdrawal
A licence may be:
- suspended where issues require correction or review
- withdrawn where misuse, misrepresentation, or non-conformity occurs
During suspension or following withdrawal:
- all references to the RFI must cease immediately
- marks, badges, and wording must be removed
Unauthorised Use
Any reference to the RFI outside a valid licence is unauthorised.
Unauthorised use may result in:
- correction requests
- suspension or withdrawal
- application of unauthorised use fees
- further enforcement action
Enforcement is applied proportionately and in accordance with published governance procedures.
